Mena Perrotta – Currently On Leave

Mena is a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) with over 15 years of experience working with children, youth, families and individuals. She gained a broad range of experience working in a non-profit, community agency providing counselling to children and their families, supervising a variety of counselling programs, therapists and students. Mena has worked in school settings with special needs children, has provided psycho-educational and support groups to parents. In addition, she has also provided consultations and training to school personnel on how to support the emotional needs of children in the classroom.  Mena has been an adjunct faculty member at the Adler University, providing supervision to Master’s level psychology students. She provides telehealth sessions with VPC (virtual counselling and consulting via secure videocall or telephone calls).

Mena works in collaboration with her clients to develop treatment strategies using a variety of modalities to address their specific issues and needs. In her work with clients, she works from Adlerian and Attachment based approaches. Mena strives to develop authentic, trusting relationships with clients to create a safe therapeutic environment in order to assist them in building on their personal strengths, and develop the resiliency they require to cope with any challenges in life with which they may be faced.

Mena uses art and play therapy in her work with children to assist them in better understanding and expressing their feelings.

 

SERVICES (Currently On Leave)

Mena has experience supporting clients in dealing with a wide range of issues including: anxiety, depression, grief and loss, anger, self-esteem, stress, trauma and abuse. She assists families in improving relationship dynamics and problem solving skills.  Mena supports parents in dealing with parenting issues, and assists families transitioning through the divorce process.

Mena works in the area of Collaborative Divorce as a divorce coach and child specialist, provides co-parent therapy and assists parents in developing appropriate parenting plans, and provides reunification therapy.
